Check out our new hardwood floor! Some time ago, a previous owner placed parquet over original hardwood. Not only was it ugly, it was in horrible condition. Because the parquet was glued down, rather than nailed, it ruined the wood underneath. Therefore we needed all new wood (a more expensive & less authentic proposition). We resolved the day our offer on the house was accepted that we would replace the floor sooner rather than later. The new hardwood was installed early July, 2003.
From ucky parquet to lovely white-oak planks: Before
After
Before: transition to front bedroom was atrocious and the old hardwood in that room had seen better days.
After: clean and smooth transition.
Before: dining room had exposed original hardwood from old, removed kitchen cabinets & hole for the old vent.
After: smooth surface, nice transition to kitchen, & no hole!
